Thanksgiving In Riverside, CA Thanksgiving is coming. Here in Riverside, CA, the turkey population is looking for somewhere to hide. All of those hunter mentalities are out looking for that special turkey to grace their table. We are starting early because the turkeys have figured it out? This happens every year. In preface to this event church and service clubs of all kinds are getting ready for their annual fall festivals. This is designed, of course, to gather children for a fun time. To replace the ghosts, goblins and scary creatures...things of Halloween. In the next two weeks, church yards and parks will be full of children on the giant jump houses, ducking for apples, waling for cake walks and throwing darts at balloons with their parents in close supervision to make sure they are having a safe and good time. A whole month of celebration tied around Thanksgiving Day. The first Thanksgiving was celebrated by the pilgrims who first landed on the American Continent. The celebration was to give thanks to God for survival of the first winter. They even invited some close by Indian tribes to join them and they did. Thanksgiving celebrations are now the result of a National Holiday. The Bible declares Give ye thanks all ye saints and also has a great deal to say of the blessings of giving and thanksgiving. One of the texts says it is much blessed to give than to receive. Millions have experienced the truth of that verse. Here in Riverside churches and service clubs are feeding the hungry and the disenfranchised. Is there a nation in the world that has more to be grateful for then the good old USA? We live in the greatest nation in history. We are the recipients of manifold blessings of God. No nation in history has enjoyed the prosperity that America has. Join me in this season in gratefully thanking God for His goodness day by day. God Bless You!
